Richard A. Johnson, 90, lifelong resident of West Monroe, passed away on December 20, 2021. He was born at home on November 26, 1931 to the late Ivan and Winnie (Dodge) Johnson. He is survived by his sister Eleanor Doria and preceded in death by siblings Robert Johnson, Carl Johnson, and Gwendolyn Solomon.
Rich served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and worked as the West Monroe Mailman for 30 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed trap shooting, volunteering with the town fire department and serving on the West Monroe Cemetery board in addition to membership with the Masons and VFW.
Rich is predeceased by his loving partner of 40 years, Bertha Wood and son Allen Fisher. He is survived by his children Deborah Johnson, Patrick (Dixie) Johnson, Neil Johnson, Heather (Henry) Gass, Donna Fisher, and Lori (Bob) Carpenter; 9 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held at the West Monroe Fire Department from 10am - 12pm, Thursday, December 23. The family asks in leu of flowers donations be made to the West Monroe Fire Department. A Graveside Service, with military honors, will take place in the spring in West Monroe Cemetery.
