Richard L Compton

Richard L. Compton, 91, of Hastings, formerly of West Monroe, died Friday, January 6, 2017, at the Hospice of the East Bay, Alamo, CA.  Born in Syracuse, he had lived in the West Monroe and Central Square areas for over 65 years before moving to Florida in 1990 and then back to New York State in 2016.  He was a construction worker for Schoeck Builders for over 30 years before retiring in 1990.  He also served in the United States Army, in Europe, during World War II.

Dick is pre-deceased by the love of his life, Virginia, after 59 years of marriage, in June of 2005; two brothers Jim and Ed; and sister Ruth. Surviving are his two daughters, Sharon Zachman (Rich) of San Ramon, Calif. and Susan DeCoursey (Bill) of Hastings; a son, Rick of Altmar; one sister, Lois Kraus of Syracuse; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

There will be no viewing hours or chapel services.  There will be gravesite services at 12:00 P.M., on Saturday, September 23, 2017, at the West Monroe Cemetery.
